My students will work harder if they have a meaningful incentive. Video games are a huge motivator for most of the kids. Students who are showing appropriate behaviors and completing their school work can earn money that can be exchanged for rewards. The Nintendo switch is very popular with kids this age and would be an excellent option to use as a reward in my program. It would also be a great way for the kids to practice social skills like taking turns and dealing with competition. Many of the games themselves promote problem solving and can have an educational benefit as well.
