My students need these books for group reading instruction in world literature. This book is important to us because it is funny, culturally relevant, and my students want to read something that is current. One of the biggest challenges as a teacher is finding reading material that truly engages students, and this book is timely, humorous, and perfect to read aloud as a small group. I have students who are currently still learning to read, and I also have students who are reading just one or two grades below level. Reading aloud together as a group is extremely helpful because it challenges my higher-level readers to read aloud, and it also helps my lower-level readers to follow along and expand their vocabulary!
