I am requesting these supplies in order to create art packs for my students. These packs will include all the tools necessary to provide my students with the ability to work independently at home. The physical act of drawing and painting is very cathartic and can support mental stability and self-expression so the pencils and crayons will allow them to channel their emotions. The paints will provide them with a more fluid materials for expressing emotions with color and mixing. The paper is heavyweight so that it can be used for sketching, and is also able to absorb watercolor well without causing frustration. We are working towards developing emotional awareness and these kits will provide them with the materials to do so from home. Emotional stability is vital to these students. The ability to practice working independently will develop their self-motivation and self-worth.
