My 5th grade students are nothing short of exceptional. First off, they are in a year of transition. This is their first year at the middle school after having all the securities of elementary school. They are gaining freedom in their ability to join extracurricular activities, switch classrooms, and even walk home on their own. As you can imagine, this is a very exciting time, but also one that can be challenging for students to navigate. BUT, like I said, my students are exceptional and growing into their new freedoms everyday. Another factor that my students face is that about 50% are from low-income homes. This influences the mindset of the kiddos in many ways. BUT, like I said, my students are exceptional and sharing their diverse backgrounds helps us all grow. So what I am trying to say is these students are exceptional and deserve the world. Let's help give them the materials and opportunities they deserve!
