My students are in need of these fine and gross motor skill centers. These centers and games will help my students' hand muscles grow and strengthen. These muscles grow from the beginning of kindergarten all the way to the end of kindergarten. It is important to make sure that we have centers that focus on these muscle groups. If we do not focus on these areas, students might not be able to correctly grip a pencil, use scissors to cut, use the tongs in the cafeteria or even grip toys correctly. For example, we can use the sand and water tables in one of our small group centers to make sure they have fine motor skills while still learning to play and socialize with other students. The Hop Scotch activity allows them to learn numbers as well as work collaboratively with other students. The Fishing game also helps to develop fine motor skills.
