Having Hokki stools in my classroom would improve student focus through controlled, deliberate physical movement. In order for students to be successful in school, they need tools to focus their energy and attention to the task at-hand; such is especially the case for students with disabilities. In my experience, students who do not have a safe outlet for releasing physical energy, tend to engage in disruptive, off-task behavior. If released from the confinement of traditional desk chairs, my students are more likely to focus their minds and remain engaged. Consequently, distracting behaviors like pencil tapping, calling out, and instigating others, are sure to decrease.
