Both curriculum based learning and social emotional learning contribute to a whole and successful child. After reading the book Wonder and seeing the movie I believe that there is so much potential for students to immerse themselves in this text and come out of it better and more understanding people. I am certain my students can relate to feeling misunderstood and unseen and this book written R.J Palacio is truly a road map paving the way to learning what it looks like to empower and understand each others differences. Seventh grade is time where students are struggling to find their identity, worth, and be proud of what makes them different. This book chronicles the journey of a brave boy with an extraordinary face as he journeys into the adventure that is public school. While students are learning to fit in socially and accept others and themselves for who they are, they can find themselves immersed and inspired by Auggie and his beautiful triumphs in "Wonder."
