We will hold a college commitment day on May 2, 2018. This is a time where students will come in and talk to the colleges about the next steps, including housing, registration, orientation, financial aide, career counseling, loans etc. Students need help with the next steps in attending college. After students apply and are admitted to college, they often don't know what to do next. Students will sign up for a time slot with the college they are going to attend in the fall, and attend the other workshops offered that day centered around going to college. There will be workshops helping with FAFSA, loan counseling, career inventories etc. This event will help them understand the process of going to college. We would give away kindles to students to help with text book costs. Textbooks are very expensive, and we have found that it is cheaper to rent or buy the digital version of the book. A kindle would be a great thing for these seniors to have. They would have a device that they could download their text books too.
