My students need laptops in the classroom to gain more ease of access to required programs such as Waterford Learning and Reading Counts! It is quite a struggle to complete 20 minute Waterford rotations for each of the 18 students during our small group instructional rotations with the limited number of computers we currently have. Our classroom does not have enough computers to effectively accommodate all of the students' needs. My students have not been benefiting as much as they could be from the use of these computer programs. This is due to the time constraints that come with attempting to get 18 second graders to rotate through computer use efficiently. Two of the laptops will be utilized to solve this issue. With the third laptop, I will be able to create a Reading Counts! station for the students to use when they finish reading a book. Having this station available will allow the students to make use of the Reading Counts! program when the students come in early in the morning, during small group rotations, and when they finish their assignments early. This laptop will be specifically for Reading Counts! so they don't have to wait for another student to be finished with a Waterford rotation.
