Every child has the ability to learn; it is my responsibility to provide that opportunity. The pandemic caused a rift in learning where students developed this desire to learn independent of the teacher - a desire to become more creative in the classroom. I create opportunities in my classroom with student choice and group work where students are working together to develop their mathematical understanding through reasoning. There have also been many students traumatized by the pandemic; they fear going back to the classroom. I design lessons where students can re-engage with others in a supportive and caring environment to show these students the joy of learning.
