"When teens consistently practice mindfulness, it lowers rates of anxiety & depression and leads to better sleep, stronger relationships, and increased self-awareness, all of which can go a long way toward ameliorating the impact of stress" (http://leftbrainbuddha.com/mindfulness-for-teens/). As a result of consistently doing yoga, students will be given the opportunity to break down the barrier of mental distress in order to focus on their future by being more engaged in their school work. I am the school social worker, and I teach elective courses. My plan is to use these materials to give students the experience of de-stressing and learning what it feels like to do self care in order to be their best selves. Items we are hoping to receive include 18 BalanceFrom Go Yoga All Purpose Anti-Tear Exercise Yoga Mats and One 3-Week Yoga Retreat Workout Program. With the infusion of these items into our program, we feel we can better meet the needs of our students.
