Having the Easel will allow my students to participate with reading, writing, and sharing together. They will be able to use magnetic letters to build High-Frequency words. They will be able to practice hand writing skills. And they will be able to share valuable information with each other on a subject. They will be able to work in a small group to figure out the math question on a dry erase board at arms reach for them. Most of the boards in the classroom are hard for them to reach because they are placed so high, and them being 1st graders, they can barely reach. This will be a highly effective tool they will be able to use for all subjects. It would be used during reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. During reading we can place our store of the day on it and do a read a-loud. During writing we would be able to create "Thinking Maps" on chart paper that the students will be able to refer back to on multiple accounts. It would be used during math to allow students to answer problems using magnetic manipulatives they can reach at comfortably. This would be a great piece to add to my classroom to allow the students to use. It will allow them to work independently or in a group setting in a comfortable arms reach.
