My students are economically disadvantaged. We are a Title 1 funded school that has not met benchmark scores in reading for 4 years. These children do not have the option of having their own books. Most of them have to check them out from the library at school or borrow them from my classroom library. Our school is trying hard to meet the needs of these disadvantaged students. The students in my reading class are the highest readers in the grade level. They are all excited about reading and love to have a new book in their hands.
