For children who struggle with auditory stimuli a pair of noise cancelling headphones can be a life saver. They help reduce sensory stimuli which can overwhelm and prevent a meltdown from getting out of hand. Auditory distress upon hearing certain noises or loud noises and it’s something that effects some children that suffer from anxiety. Noise cancelling headphones can provide some protection from noises that can’t be avoided, and can help children take a time out, in a quiet setting to recharge. Some children suffer from social anxiety and this is especially true for Introverts. One of the biggest factors that I see facing elementary children today is dealing with anxiety. As a counselor I work with many different students that suffer from anxiety. I have researched different headphones and most of them will not isolate even whispers in a classroom. A regular conversation is 60 decibels of noise. I looked for a headphone that would block enough noise to give students some quiet time, that they could also move around in and/or listen to calming music. I would like these headphones to also be compatible with my i pad for the students to play educational games and work on educational programs.
