Literacy is critical to the development of an individual and a community as a whole. Oftentimes we forget how much we take advantage of being able to read and write effectively. There are so many reasons why we should keep literacy on the forefront of our thoughts. A literate community is a happy and diverse community. If my students are exposed to a greater variety of literature we would be able to engage in a more rigorous dialogue. The sharing of ideas and perspectives, which we often learn from literature, leads to greater levels of mutual understanding, caring, and a stronger community.

About my class
