My class needs a wide selection of books and novels in our classroom library so that we can conduct book clubs/literature circles in class. Literature circles encourage a love, appreciation, and positive attitude toward reading. It's a way to let students cooperate, collaborate, and think critically all while reading a diverse set of texts. The books I’ve chosen to add to our class library are high-interest, challenging, and thought-provoking for middle school students. It is essential that students have a choice in what they read. Having all of these different titles available in our class will give them that choice. The freedom and choice students have in book clubs encourage them to love to read, and that is the greatest gift I could ever give them. By providing students a choice in what they read, it gives them ownership of their learning, encourages independence, and promotes success. Students become engaged when they are in charge of their learning, and having all of these books available so we can have book clubs will provide that sense of responsibility and inspiration to my students.
