Old teaching styles are great, but not sufficient in terms of sustaining a learners' attention. Furthermore interviews are done now on Skype, and we live in a world where technology is an intricate part of our society. By not providing students an opportunity to interact with technology we are doing our students a disservice. What is Flocabulary? Think of it as a contemporary “SchoolHouse Rock.” Using the natural teaching tools of music, rhythm, and rhyme, Flocabulary makes academic content more interesting, engaging, and memorable for students. More than 20,000 schools use Flocabulary to teach, engage and assess students. Knowledge of vocabulary is essential in building background knowledge when learning new skills and subjects. “Researchers have found that students with greater prior knowledge learn more, remember more, and are more interested...than those who have less initial prior knowledge.” • Johns Hopkins Center for Research and Reform in Education, 2016 Simply put this is important to me as a teacher because I am competing against Xbox, PlayStation, and a multimedia world. My students ask for Flocabulary lesson for most of the topics we discuss. It amazed me that when I would put on a Flocabulary lesson the kids would sing along. They were actually singing them in the hallways after class. It was a sad day when I had to let them know that the free trial had ended.
