The use of white boards in my reading classes during whole group lessons and individual practice are daily activities. My students get a white board from their desks while someone passes out the dry erase markers. The dry erase markers dry out or sometimes the tips get smashed into the the whiteboard. Then I have to throw the markers away. I don't have enough erasers, so they use tissues to erase or have to share the few erasers that I do have. This process is time consuming and can be a distraction. Besides, my old whiteboards are very dingy and dirty. If we had KleenSlate whiteboards to use, my students could be prepared and ready to learn in a timely manner. With the KleenSlate whiteboards, my students will remain focused and stay highly engaged. These whiteboards are such an improvement to the ones that I already have. They are handheld and can be customized to any reading lesson or skill. Each whiteboard comes with a dry erase sleeve in which students can slide a worksheet into their whiteboard. The markers are an improvement because they have a low odor and write like a pen. They are also very durable. Many times I just want a quick assessment and can scan the entire class without walking around to individual students. It also minimizes the need for paper and pencil for every skill that I teach. I will be able to see that every student participated when they use a Kleenslate whiteboard because they hold it up for me to see. Plus, everything the students use will be easily available and will reduce the need to pass out materials. All-in-all this project will improve classroom management and student participation. My students will be very excited to use something new and improved.
