Students today do not have typing or computer classes, and their computer literacy skills and typing skills are suffering. I have innovative ideas to build computer literacy and typing skills through my instruction, but I need computers for each of my students in order to do so. We only have three computers currently in my classroom. With these ten additional computers students will be able to learn how to write emails, maintain a Google drive, create presentations, organize spreadsheets, and more. Teaching high school should not just be about the curriculum but should also teach students the life skills necessary to be successful and productive people in society. My hopes in transforming my instruction to include these skills is dependent on having computers for each of my students to use.
