We are a Title 1 school that is in need develop skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) as well as business education. My goal is to develop leadership, academic, and business management skills in efforts of building and molding students in becoming leaders within the community. This is a three-day competition for students in middle and high school that allows them to apply their knowledge of skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to issues facing our global society. Focused on an annual theme, original academic and innovative concepts are developed for the competition based on the National Academy of Engineering’s Grand Challenges. Engaging in the challenges requires critical job-readiness skills such as teamwork, and analytical thinking, and multi-dimensional problem solving. My students are needing this funding so that they can show case their skills and compete with top North Carolina region. My students need to produce a digital album consisting of color or black and white digital photographs that represent or relate to a chosen theme and place the album on a storage device (USB flash drive) for submission. Semifinalists will have to produce a series of digital photographs taken at the conference site that are edited appropriately for the on-site task. Currently the students are using a phone which does not produce quality pictures. This competition is every year and having adequate tools at there disposal will allow them the necessary tools needed for the competition each year.
