All of the students who come to me struggle with achieving success in a general classroom due to various learning disabilities and attention difficulties. Research says that allowing students to move during instruction increases their ability to retain information. The wobble seats will be used for students who have autism, ADHD, other sensory processing disorders and my younger students. These cushions allow my students to move around in their seats without disturbing others. The bouncy balls will serve the same purpose in a different section of the room. The students are able to bounce while they are working. This movement reduces their need to get up and roam around the classroom, while focusing their minds on the task at hand. My goal is to differentiate my classroom seating options so that the various needs of my students are being met at all times. The clipboards and bean bag chairs will be used during independent reading and centers. The bean bag chairs provide a comfortable safe space for my students to delve into a text as if they were at home in their own space. These materials will make a great difference in my students opinions of what a classroom is and they will increase their ability to focus on academic tasks.
