Many students learn at different paces, so having guided book clubs gives students the opportunity to read and analyze books at their own reading level. Even though they have a wide variety of books to choose from in the classroom library, they don't have the chance to talk about the books they read with others. By having many copies of the same book it gives students the chance to have a conversation and better understanding of what they are reading. Since they are guided by the teacher, the Third Grade Book Tour is a good way to assess what students have learned. By having constructive conversations as a group allows students to better comprehend the subject of the book with varying perspectives. These guided book clubs will allow students to take what they have learned through reading lessons and apply that learning to more thoroughly analyze and grasp the subject matter of books they may read in the future.
