Environment shapes experience, and that's how I view my classroom. My students are my children, everyday for 7 hours. That means 420 minutes or 25,200 seconds. To me that is an incredibly long time to be sitting at a desk or in a hard chair. My students are smart, creative kids who all learn in different ways. When you walk into our classroom, you will see several students standing behind their chairs, some laying on the floor, and others sitting on the desk. A small population of my students have a love for sitting at a desk in a chair. They like to move, spread out, and find a spot in the classroom for them to achieve their personal best work. My students enjoy the opportunity to make decisions about their learning and to step outside the box.
