Even with daily intervention, my students with ASD continue to struggle with communication. However, research has shown that children with ASD who use tablets with a speech generating app often acquire language faster when used in conjunction with a language rich classroom environment. I want my students to be able to communicate their needs, likes, and dislikes with everyone around them. The individual tablets will help my students develop spoken language which is often the most pressing concern for parents. Individual tablets will give my non-verbal students a much needed voice in this world. The tablets will allow my students to touch symbols, listen to word repetitions and utter words.
