Flexible seating and classroom management create a positive working environment for students. The materials I have requested for donations will help improve and maintain classroom management. These materials will help complete the flexible seating arrangement in my classroom. I have been slowly implementing this idea into my classroom by lowering tables, allowing students to use pillows and whiteboards instead of student desks and chairs to complete their work. More than half of my students stand behind their desks with their feet on the seat portion of their chair simply because they focus and work better in this position. The other half of my students sit on the end of their chair and bounce almost until they fall off. At this age students are challenged with learning academics and behaviors. The idea of flexible of seating creates a positive working environment for my students, giving them freedom of choice with positive limitations while I get peace of mind in safety, all while behavioral challenges are decreased and both parties are able to focus on lifelong skills. These stools, wobble chairs, and balance ball seats will also help students with disabilities who need additional options for seating.
