For young readers, it is important that they are hearing experienced readers read aloud to them familiar texts multiple times a day. Having a listening center for my students during reading will give them a daily opportunity to hear fluent readers read a familiar text. As my students grow as readers, I would also love to use the tablets to record my students reading their own books. This will allow them the opportunity to listen back to their reading and improve their own fluency. Due to lack of school funding, my students do not have much access to up-to-date technology. These tablets, with headphones, will not only give students an opportunity to learn through listening, but the tablets will also allow my students to gain experience in using the technology to learn and create.
