By using the 23 and me kits in the classroom we will be able to look into the inner workings of inherited traits. These kits provide back round info to help show where each gene originated and which side of their families these traits came from. We will be able to create a family tree and track genetic diseases and traits in a real life person, a fellow student, rather than a chart from a book that has no meaning. By understanding how traits are passed on we are able to mathematically figure out the probability these traits will show up in future generations. This provides a peaked level of interest and motivation in learning, which translates to other topics in biology.
