To enhance student's grasp of new content, I plan to utilize the easel for whole-group and small-group instruction in my class. In a whole-group, students can sit as a community on the rug and use the easel as a focal point of instruction, turning easily to discuss prompts with their partner. When mobilizing the easel to the small-group area, a group of six students can easily see differentiated instructional lessons, rather than straining to see a smaller board. "None of us is stronger than all of us." An additional benefit to the easel is the ability for students to teach one another. This draws on their compassion to help one another, builds empathy for the different learning styles of their community, and optimizes their own learning through teaching. Instruction and other points of management will also be clear for students to view at all times, allowing them to have more independence in managing their own needs.
