We currently serve kinder to second grade students who come from low income families with ninety-eight percent of our students qualifying for free and reduced lunch. We work to promote a higher level of education; however, we also believe that it is important to expose our students to different activities, one of which is the arts. Coming from low income families, these students don't have the opportunity to acquire different art materials that will introduce them to the world of art. With your support, my group of second graders will be able to start exploring this world. We need drawing paper, chalk, glitter and a class set of washable watercolor paint. It is important for students to focus on academics and to also start looking into electives that might help them discover what they want to do in the future. Whether they want to make this a hobby or a career, it is something that will definitely impact them in a positive way. These materials are going to help me start incorporating the arts into our daily routine and help my students explore their creative sides.
