Getting musical instruments into the students' hands is the goal! I have a background in Kodaly music education which is primarily singing based. In practice, however, I have found that elementary students enjoy both singing as well as getting to use musical instruments that they can hold in their hands and explore the different rhythms and notes they can make with the various instruments we have in the music room. Getting a well stocked music room with drums, guiros and a tenor recorder and in a quantity that allows each student to have an instrument simultaneously is ideal and would allow each student to have a quality music experience each time they enter my class.
