These materials will be used to help my students that have ADHD stay focused when they are in my RSP classroom. Up until now I have been using my own money to supply these items for my students. It makes a huge difference if they have the necessary tools they need to learn in a way that works for them. I have started a sensory corner in my room. These items will continue to help my sensory corner grow and allow more of my students to use them. I also let some of my students take items to their general education classrooms if they need to. Acquiring more sensory items will allow me to keep some in my RSP room and send some needed items out to the general education classrooms as well. Students will use the fidgets (water wigglers, bouncy bands, and glitter stick) during small group time to help them stay focused. If they are able to keep their fingers moving they can stay focused on what we are learning. The alternative seating (wobble chair, seating pad, balancing balls) will also allow them to move their body so they can focus more easily on assignments they need to complete. The weighted lap pad will help my student that has extreme sensory needs. The weight from the blanket helps to calm him down.
