How do students learn about cultures different from their own? By exploring, discussing, and reading about them! Multicultural plays are at the heart of this project that explores gender stereotypes. In preparation, students will have a choice to read one of three plays: The Crucible, Fences, or Zoot Suit. Though students will have the choice of which book to read, they will all be analyzing our books through the same "Critical Lens" -- by analyzing how gender roles and gender stereotypes affect the development of characters and the text's story line. But students won't stop there -- once they've finished this important analytical work, they'll work in teams to synthesize it into a multimedia presentation to share what they've learned with their classmates.
