Flexible seating is the perfect tool to help my students during small group time and during their independent reading time! These kiddos love to MOVE and to be comfy! These awesome seats will help them stay attentive during reading time. All my students came into my classroom significantly below their grades reading level. They have all been working hard with their reading, and have such a yearn and passion to get even better with reading on their own. The seats I have chosen will help in a variety of ways! I have chosen bean bags for independent reading time. Students really dive deeper into what they're reading when they are comfy; instead of sitting in hard chairs. The wobble chairs are perfect for my kidney table where I do small group instruction. This is when we really learn the nitty gritty, and I give them strategies and tools to help improve their reading. These wobble chairs are AWESOME! These chairs don't have legs; but instead the bottom in curved. These chairs allow the students to rock back and forth and move around, while still remaining seated and not distracting anyone! The other chairs I chose are ones that students can pick up and move anywhere around the classroom to read! I believe that students learn best when they are able to choose where they can sit. All students like different places. I have some students sit in the chair at the desk, and then others lay on the floor with a pillow. I know I read best when I'm curled up on the couch. Hopefully some of these will be their "best" place too!
