My students currently read at a rectangular table that is peeling. The laminate is constantly being peeled back by students and it is a safety and hygiene concern. The students put their hands between the laminate and the table and often p[inch their fingers. They would benefit from a safe, clean reading spot that is not distracting. With the current rectangular table, I feel that only two students are getting my direct attention while with the kidney shaped table I would be within earshot of ALL of the students in the group. Also, their proximity to me would be closer and I would be able to give all of them the attention they deserve.
