In my class we focus on creating a cohesive classroom community. It is so important that my students come into our class feeling comfortable, happy, safe, understood, and supported. A community carpet would be a perfect addition to our classroom! Our classroom is lacking a nice comfortable space for us to meet. Our whole classroom is tile and tile floor does not make for a very inviting place to sit (especially for longer periods of time). It's not only uncomfortable but it's also cold. In past years I have met with my students at the carpet for mini lessons and class discussions. It is a great way to get a little closer and have more collaborative and meaningful conversations as a whole, and with partners. I feel that transitioning from desk work to carpet time is a great way to keep the students engaged. I want to be able to invite them to a comfortable, and warm space instead of the cold, hard tile. I know my students would really appreciate a community carpet!
