My students come from all walks of life, but sadly this often includes broken homes, gang violence, drug use and most of all: uncertainty. Maya Angelou said "Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud" and I strive to give my students a stable and loving environment for them to learn and grow. As a history teacher, I work to bring the past to life and connect it to my students' lives today. One way I attempt to do this is with projects that get students up and out of the textbook, working with the information they have learned to create something new. I have found this to be a rewarding process, as some students do better on creative activities, and it allows all students to shine. I try to give these students access to everything they will need to succeed in class and future careers. When you donate to this classroom you are the one opening more doors for their future.
