My students would greatly benefit from a sound machine and other materials that can be used to help calm their minds and bodies in the counseling office. Fidgets and small toys to play with while they are speaking about stressful events in their lives helps students to relax and share what may be bothering them. Often students have past trauma in their lives, and they may need help to work through that trauma. Certain materials like fidgets, sound machines, and calming lighting is very helpful for students. Children are not able to learn effectively, until they are able to adequately process their own stress.
