We are the flagship science classroom for Wonderful College Prep Academy in Delano, California. Our students mostly come from immigrant families; in some cases they might be the first in their family to graduate from high school and attend a secondary school. For many of them, their science instruction has been sporadic or less hands-on than they would like. In my classroom, the aims are twofold: to help students experience science in a variety of formats, including traditional lectures and labs as well as projects and case studies; and to graduate students who will be scientifically literate and informed enough to make responsible decisions as citizens and voters.

About my class
