I am lucky to teach in a highly diverse urban school district located in upstate New York. With a high population of students from Bangladesh, Yemen, Haiti, Jamaica, Central and South America as well as African-American and Caucasian, Hudson High School has a rich multi-cultural background unique to Columbia County New York. Unfortunately, over 80% of our student body lives in poverty and have endured traumatic experiences. Despite their obstacles and challenges our students are resilient and demonstrate an amazing ability to rise above their situation and thrive. At Hudson High School my students openly welcome new experiences and embrace the adventure of learning. I teach biology through hands-on experiential learning activities that promote curiosity and creativity. My classroom and lessons are constantly evolving to meet the individual needs of my students. "Science" is a verb in my classroom.
