Scholastic SCOPE magazine contains relevant topics ranging from non-fiction new stories to well know literary classics with a dramatic spin. SCOPE provides students with a range of types of texts to encourage them to become passionate readers without being constrained to one genre. It opens up their eyes and hearts to experiencing different forms of texts. SCOPE gives my students the chance to think deeply, support their inferences, and produce writing which has engaged them. My students love the relevancy of the texts, and learning something new that is relevant to their lives. SCOPE is a path for students to become engaged, passionate, and aware readers. The quality of our lessons utilizing SCOPE help to make my classroom the thought provoking, engaging environment teachers strive to create. SCOPE will make my students not only better readers and writers, but it will make them more educated citizens and members of our community.
