The editing computer that I am requesting is to provide my Panther News Network (PNN) students with the proper materials necessary to create the best student news show possible! Approximately 8 years ago, our county school system split our high school into two schools. One school housing grades 10-12 on a new campus, and another housing grade 9 on the old high school campus. The division of schools caused some staffing issues thus causing the PNN class to no longer be an option for ninth grade students. Last year for the first time in a long time, ninth grade students were able to broadcast news to their peers. In year two, we are attempting to grow our program. PNN provides news for students, by students. The news program is completely written, reported, filmed, and edited by students. As you can imagine, technology has come a long way in the past few years and our current editing computers are antiquated and outdated. Due to the program at my school still being in its infancy, we have no funding available to us to make improvements. Our show will be used to teach our PNN students the fundamentals of news broadcasting as well as educating our student body on both local and national news. PNN will be broadcast in our student lounge as well as available for any time viewing on Youtube.
