I teach at a public charter school (free, not private!) in Southern California where almost all of our students live below the poverty line. I teach 8th grade math to a 99% Latino population that lives in the poorest neighborhood in all of Los Angeles. Despite these challenges, my students and community have and continue to rise above their circumstances.
