I chose books and materials based on the current Science Standards required for First Grade. One of the important topics we explore is animal and plant adaptations and habitats around the world. There are also great titles included teaching environmental responsibilities. Another topic we study is sound and light. The hands~on materials will help the students carry out scientific experiments. These materials will help to increase my First Grade students understanding and exploration of many science topics. Throughout the school year my students will have many opportunity to become scientists and engineers. They will observe the decomposition with the composting station. They will observe the life~cycle of butterflies. Using the Tall Stackers they will work as engineers designing buildings and bridges. All the books will help round~out our nonfiction library. Thank you for your help!
