As preschoolers are in the "exploratory" stage of their life, science allows children to discover new things and interact with the world around them both inside and outside of the classroom. I am requesting a science center for my class as science is all around us and it's crucial that young children began to learn about it during these early stages of their lives! Having a a science center will teach my students responsibility, as they will be in charge of using the equipment safely and appropriately and cleaning up after themselves when they're done. The materials that I am requesting are a Discovery Kit Classroom Collection and this particular collection consists of 6 different sets. The sets are as follows: Oceans, Trees, Weather, Insects and Spiders, Health and Nutrition, and lastly the Body and Senses kit. These kits will integrate not only science into my curriculum, but also language, literature, and mathematics! My students will begin to identify living things, as well as classify living things around them. Science allows for a hands-on experience (which is most beneficial to children this age). They will become problem solvers, explore cause and effect, and become inquisitive learners!
