My goal is to challenge my students through chess in order to strengthen their problem solving skills and improve on how to make strategic decisions with the game. Chess will help my students learn to relate these skills to real life. Chess will challenge students to practice making quick decisions under time pressure which would help improve test taking skills. Also, chess can engage students of all abilities and backgrounds as it teaches students on how to think logically. Chess can help enhance reading, memory, language and mathematical abilities. In order to facilitate this program, the club would need at least 10 chess sets and 5 chess clocks.
