We split the day into several parts that consist of music and movement, phonics, reading, writing, and math. The students do not get to go outside or exercise much, being that we share the building with another school. So, I try to find ways to make their experience at school fun and engaging. We all share one computer, which I sometimes like to go on during my prep. However, the kids are on it 90% of the day. If we were able to get tablets or some sort of extra technology we could make a small technology center. The students all love going on the internet. They all express excitement in their own unique way. With tablets, my boys can play phonics, reading and math games. We can rotate more effectively so more than one student gets a chance at a time! I am a dedicated teacher and am constantly trying to get my boys ICT ready so they can mainstream into general ed. I have taught them how to work the computer, and they pick it up fast. With the tablets, they can experience technology and learn in a fun and engaging way. They also maintain focus for a long period of time when they are on the computer. They act responsibly because they have a wonderful time. My students need outlets, as they are limited to very little and have to stay inside the classroom for most of the day.
