Having hands-on activities for students with diverse needs will promote collaboration and access to the curriculum. These activities will let the students take more ownership over their learning experience and increase their self esteem! Many of my students have felt different from their peers at one point or another because they learn differently. Giving them ways to experience school in a positive way makes such a difference in their young lives. I try to make learning fun, and help these kiddos understand that it is ok to need to take more time or do things differently. My students need to build up their background knowledge so they can make much needed connections when reading both fiction and nonfiction literature. With the purchase of Read About Science Learning Centers, a tornado and water cycle station kit, weather report, classroom greenhouse, Nova weather dvds, plant experiments, and outdoor weather activity supplies, they will be able to do that!
