I anticipate great discussions revolving around the main character, Auggie, as he attends public school for the first time. My students will learn not to judge someone based on his or her appearance, that being different is okay, and that we should never, ever use words to hurt others. The message of the book is to always, always, CHOOSE KIND! Courage. Kindness. Friendship. Character. These are the qualities that define us as human beings, and propel us, on occasion, to greatness." -R.J. Palacio 'Wonder' by R.J. Palacio is a superb novel to reinforce reading and writing strategies, but the lessons learned in the book will guide them to make the right choices in life. It will help define our aim of being heroes!
