My students live in a technology-centered world, but, unfortunately, don't have access to the technology they are expected to and need to use on a daily basis in order to stay up to snuff with our ever-growing and changing technological advances. We have access to laptops a few times each week but are limited to what we can do on them because we do not have headphones. For example, our school district has purchased and absolutely amazing reading and language arts program called Lexia, but my students cannot access this program in class because it requires sound and we do not have headphones. In addition, we do not have any classroom computers! Having at least one classroom laptop would allow me to give struggling or thriving learners a chance to use programs catered to them to get the extra help or challenge they need and deserve.
