Tone is the most important element of performing on an instrument. Quality sound on any instrument begins with the instrument's mouthpiece. Over time, as students progress on their instrument they outgrow the capabilities of their mouthpiece and to achieve their best sounds they must upgrade their mouthpiece. Some of my students do not have the necessary funds to purchase an upgraded mouthpiece. With these four new mouthpieces, students that are unable to purchase their own upgraded mouthpiece will maximize their potential for characteristic tone on their instruments. Each student's individual tone has a dramatic effect on the overall ability of the group to master ensemble concepts such as balance, blend, and intonation. Providing these mouthpieces will increase the maximum potential for not only the students that receive them but the other members of their section and the band as a whole.
